WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
The initial session will last up to 45 minutes. All patients will be
assessed by the physiotherapist. This is to identify the nature of the

The assessment involves detailed questioning about the onset and behaviour of
the problem, past medical history and general health. The physiotherapist
will also need to examine the painful area and any areas which may be
referring pain. If you do not feel comfortable being examined in your
underwear you may wish to bring shorts and a sleeveless T-shirt or vest.
You are always welcome to bring someone with you to the session.
During the assessment the physiotherapist will discuss
with you what you want to achieve from physiotherapy and the treatment
options available. This may be in the form of exercises, pain management
strategies, rehabilitation or ergonomic advice, manual techniques or
electrotherapy such as ultrasound.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
In order to assess you properly you will be asked if you are happy to
partially undress If you do not feel comfortable being examined in your
underwear you may wish to bring shorts and a sleeveless T-shirt or vest.
